Do The Reps
Everyone wants to be great at something and achieve a higher level of success. Unfortunately, most people are looking for shortcuts to get there. The bad news, they don’t exist.
Everyone knows that you do not walk into the gym as the strongest person on your first day. If you have ever lifted weights for any length of time, you know that it takes time under the bar in order to be able to get stronger and lift more weight. You cannot just decide that you want to be strong and wake up the next day benching 3 plates, 10 times. That is not how it works. It’s a process. You have to “do the reps.”
I heard this idea from Alex Hormozi who is an incredible entrepreneur and he has an awesome podcast called “The Game.” You should check it out.
The more I listened to this idea, the more I realized how much I agree with this.
In the world of construction and development, everyone wants the next promotion or to get that next raise from their construction company. They want to be the one chosen to build the best, most high-profile construction projects. The list goes on. The truth is, some of these things take time and years of hard work and sacrifice.
To be great at anything, you have to do the reps. To be a great Project Manager, you have to spend time as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager. Learning how to lead a construction project from start to finish. Learning how to lead construction teams and subcontractors. Refining your skills regarding construction knowledge and insight. You have to spend the time under the bar to get stronger.
It is true in construction and it is true in life. Let’s commit to “DO THE REPS.”
