Good Recruiters are just like Sports Agents

One of my good friends played Major League Baseball for many years. He played for organizations such as the Chicago Cubs and the Seattle Mariners. We were talking the other day and he said, “You know your job as a recruiter is really just like a sports agent if you think about it.”

While I have always been a huge sports fan, I have never made the connection myself between recruiters and sports agents. But the more I thought about it, the more I agree. Here’s why:

In sports, agents meticulously scout players who possess the skills and qualities necessary to excel. Similarly, construction recruiters actively seek out construction professionals, including project managers, superintendents, and estimators, who demonstrate expertise in their respective roles. The recruitment process involves evaluating a candidate's experience, skills, and cultural fit within the construction team.

  • Teamwork throughout the Process

In sports, agents are a player’s go-to guy for everything. Agents help every step of the way from before someone is drafted all the way to contract negotiations. In the same way, a good construction recruiter will be ready and available as your go-to for everything throughout the hiring process. We are ready to listen to your requests / goals, help you get in front of the best construction and development companies, walk with you through the interview process, and ultimately help you get the best offer possible with a winning team.
