Hunting & Recruiting

As Summer comes to a close and we turn the page to Fall, I am day-dreaming of those crisp cool mornings in the deer stand. After a couple months of 100+ degree heat, I am more than ready to enjoy all of the great things that Fall has to offer…especially deer hunting.

In thinking about my plans for the upcoming hunting season, I had the realization that hunting is a lot like recruiting. Not just because many people refer to it as “head hunting”, but for a few other reasons as well:

  1. Timing is everything. You can have a great plan for how to harvest a deer. You can do everything right, but in the end it comes down to being in the right place at the right time. The same goes for recruiting. Having a great plan for a executing a search is very important, but ultimately it will come down to the timing of the client being ready to pull the trigger and the candidate being fully ready to make the move.

  2. Persistence leads to success. Very rarely do you show up in the woods and harvest a deer on the first attempt. It takes repetition, consistency and dedicated time in the stand. In recruiting, you have to push through many “no’s”, many unanswered calls/messages, and just keep at it in order to find the right candidate.

  3. When it all comes together, it is so rewarding. Harvesting a great deer in God’s creation and sharing that joy / excitement with friends and family is special. In recruiting, when you find the ideal candidate and are able to help them land a great opportunity with a reputable company it is so fulfilling because you can tell you really did your part to help someone.

I hope you get to spend some time good time in the woods this Fall. And if you’d like to discuss how we can help you with your current recruiting needs, please let us know!
