Why Frontier?
Coming up with a creative yet meaningful name for a business can be a daunting task. Heck, most of us have had trouble figuring out names for our kids that our spouses also agree on. Not many people have asked about why I decided to name our business “Frontier Executive Search”, but in case you are wondering, here’s why.
The definition of “frontier” is: the extreme limit of settled land beyond which lies wilderness, especially referring to the western US before Pacific settlement. Another definition refers to “frontier” as the extreme limit of understanding or achievement in a particular area.
Stepping out away from what was known, comfortable, secure and starting a whole new company felt like wilderness in a lot of ways. There are lots of unknowns and many new things to learn in order to thrive and not just survive as a business owner. In that respect, this has been “frontier” for me. As we prayed into this decision and making this transition, we felt like God was calling us into this new frontier to take a risk, embrace the unknown and fully trust Him in this next chapter of life.
As I took a dive into some American history and read more about how we settled the frontier of the Western United States, I learned that as we settled more and more of the West we continued to develop new ways of doing things. The people adapted and learned through new experiences, gained new skill sets, and this resulted in new opportunities emerging as they continued their trek across the West.
My hope and aim as we partner with our clients and candidates here at Frontier Executive Search is that we would represent an avenue / resource for new opportunities to emerge. Whether you are a candidate and we partner with you to find a new company where you can keep growing your career, or if you are a leader at a company and you partner with us to help you make your next key hire to take your company to the next level…this is where new opportunities emerge.
